By Sheila Voss, Busch Entertainment Corporation With the arrival of summer, the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund is enjoying a higher profile among millions of Anheuser-Busch Adventure Park guests and wildlife enthusiasts worldwide. The Chance to "Save a Species" Earlier this year, the SeaWorld parks began offering a new behind-the-scenes tour. With a portion of every tour sold going directly to wildlife conservation, the "Saving a Species" tour allows guests the opportunity to help protect the very animals they encounter during their park visit. At SeaWorld Orlando, the hour-long tour takes guests behind the scenes for an up-close look at the park's animal rescue, rehabilitation and release efforts. Manatees, sea turtles, birds and other injured or ill animals have received a new lease on life with the help of SeaWorld's animal care team. As part of the tour, guests have the rare opportunity to hand-feed exotic birds in a free-flight aviary and visit the park's rescue and rehabilitation facilities, where endangered and threatened species receive state-of-the-art veterinary care. Guests who sign up for the "Saving a Species" tour at SeaWorld San Antonio have the opportunity to hand-feed colorful lorikeets, go behind the scenes with an aviculturist at the Penguin Encounter and visit endangered Hawaiian monk seals - the most endangered marine mammal found in U.S. waters. In San Diego, tour guests feed endangered sea turtles and venture behind the scenes at SeaWorld's Shark Encounter® to touch sharks. |
